CHRISTOS XXII - MV VICTORIABORG OFF BREST EMERGENCY RESPONSE

On 27th December 2013 late evening hours and whilst AHTS Christos XXII was enrooting from Le Havre towards Piraeus, our assistance was requested for the towage of a MPP vessel with Loa 132.20 mtrs, breadth 15.87 mtrs, in fully laden condition suffering steering failure. Our tug boat was immediately mobilized to the casualty 80 nms off Brest. On 29th December 2013 and under incumbent bad weather conditions (sea state 5-6 mtrs, winds gusts 7 to 8 BF scale), Christos XXII connected M/V Victoriaborg to main towing line in a record time. The preliminary plan was the convoy to reach the port of Brest. However, due to prevailing and forecasted weather conditions, tow convoy was instructed to proceed to St. Malo. M/V Victoriaborg was thereinafter safely delivered to her owners at a safe area within anchorage of St. Malo, France on the 03rd January 2014.
